Most people refinancing their home loan know there are better deals out there. But with an endless range of lenders, rates and offers to compare, they often put the task in the ‘too hard basket’ and just stick with their current provider. To snap people out this home loan apathy, Newcastle Permanent made the process unbelievably easy by offering to beat any rate by a major bank.

Objective

With Newcastle Permanent’s home loan guarantee, there’s no need to put all the effort into searching around and comparing offers. So now people could do little and save lots.

Campaign

From building a house of cards to learning to play the harp, our campaign revolved around showing the many fun, interesting, bizarre things one man decides to do when he doesn’t need to waste time searching for a great value home loan. We also developed an online home loan comparison tool so people could directly compare Newcastle Permanent rates against real-time advertised ‘Big 4’ rates for like-for-like products.

Results

During the campaign period, Newcastle Permanent experienced home loan approvals that were 18% above target, and up 46% on the same period the year prior. This resulted in the campaign being pulled earlier than expected due to its success.
